Get involved in Sacem’s activities

Sacem is here to play with you

Sacem is your home. Since 1851, it has been the creators who are part of it who have shaped its broad direction. A single collective to defend your music, protect your rights and make your voice heard.

When members set the tone

Sacem is a non-profit organisation owned by its members: authors and composers. Twenty directors sit on the Board of Directors, take strategic decisions and appoint the Chief Executive Officer, who implements the policies defined collectively. A cooperative-style governance structure, reflecting Sacem’s values: collective, fair and based on solidarity.

Your vote, your choice

Every year, on the third Tuesday in June, the General Assembly is the highlight of Sacem’s democratic process. At the meeting, you elect your representatives, vote on key policy directions, approve the financial statements for the financial year and discuss proposals that will shape our shared future.

  • Elect your representatives

Voting takes place exclusively online. Three ballots are open: the election of Directors, the Supervisory Board and the Programmes Committee; the approval of decisions and resolutions; and the approval of amendments to the Articles of Association and the General regulations. Voting terminals are available at all regional offices and at head office on the day of the General Assembly.

  • Attend the meeting

On 15 June 2027, at Sacem’s headquarters in Neuilly-sur-Seine, you will be able to take part in the discussions live and make your voice heard at the heart of the organisation. You can also submit a question to the Board of Directors at least eight days in advance, by emailing mailto:questionAG@sacem.fr

Sacem needs your help

Getting involved in Sacem is not just a formality. It means having a say in decisions that directly affect your rights: how they are calculated, distributed, redistributed and defended.

It also means contributing to an organisation that only has meaning because it is driven by those who create.

Make your voice heard. Sacem needs you.

Would you like to become more involved in Sacem’s activities? You can stand for election to the Board of Directors, the Supervisory Board or the Programmes Committee (which reports to the Ethics Committee), as well as to the regulatory and Technical Committees, which report directly to the Board of Directors.

Eligibility criteria vary depending on your status and the body in question:

  • Regulatory and Technical Committees: open to all Members, regardless of their status
  • Board of Directors, Supervisory Board, Programmes Committee: open to full members, or to professional members who can demonstrate that they have served two three-year terms on a Statutory Committee

When decisions are made by consensus, they ring true

Sacem’s activities are organised across eleven committees, which are open to Members who wish to get involved beyond simply paying their membership fees. Each committee covers a specific area (monitoring of distributions, regulatory expertise, support for creative work, etc.) and draws up concrete recommendations that influence the collective’s decisions.

  • The Programmes Committee

As Sacem’s sole Statutory Committee, it is composed of Committee members directly elected at the General Assembly. Operating independently of the Board of Directors, it ensures that every Distribution is fair and that your royalties accurately reflect what has been broadcast.

  • Regulatory Committees

There are four specialist committees: Audio-visual Committee, Variety Music Committee, Contemporary Classical Music Committee, and Author-Directors’ Committee. They advise the Board of Directors on the rules governing rights. Comprising members appointed by the Board of Directors, they act as a link between those working in the field and the decision-makers.

  • Technical Committees

There are five committees supporting the projects: self-production, young audiences, heritage, training, and equality and diversity. They review applications, allocate funding and help to advance the collective’s commitments on a day-to-day basis.
