Definition
At the heart of the value chain

The public performance of music is subject to copyright, which is held by authors, composers and music publishers, as well as to Related rights when recordings are used (MP3s, streaming, radio, TV, smartphones, computers, CDs, vinyl records, etc.).: equitable remuneration, paid to performers and music producers.
Equitable remuneration is mainly proportional to operating revenue for radio stations, television channels, nightclubs or bars and restaurants with background music, for which music is a key attraction and an essential part of their business.
It is mainly a flat-rate payment for venues known as ‘sound-equipped’, where the music programme adds value.
