You’ve just joined Sacem. Your first track has been declared. But what happens if you fall ill next month?
As a creator, you are automatically enrolled in the social security scheme for artists and authors as soon as you receive copyright royalties.
The National Health Service will then cover part of your healthcare costs. Beyond this basic cover, your health cover can be extended:

We’re working to secure your retirement
Every euro you contribute today goes towards your future pension. As an artist and author, your pension scheme operates on two levels:
- Basic pension: you are registered with the general social security scheme, which is the same as that for employees.
- Supplementary pension: once your income reaches a certain threshold, you are automatically enrolled in the IRCEC (National Supplementary Pension Fund for Artists and Authors).
Depending on the nature of your creative work, you may contribute to one or more supplementary pension schemes managed by the IRCEC: the RAAP, the RACL and the RACD.
