I’m producing a CD, a DVD, a video game…
Do you reproduce musical works on a physical or digital medium, such as a CD, vinyl record, DVD, audio file, video or video game? This use requires the prior consent of the relevant authors, composers and publishers. For the Sacem repertoire, this authorisation is granted by the SDRM, which manages Mechanical reproduction rights.

How are the rates calculated?
The amount of copyright fees depends on the role the music plays in your business or event.
Depending on its significance and how you use it, the fee may take the form of a flat rate or a percentage calculated on the basis of revenue and/or expenditure.
Where does the money go?
Once copyright royalties have been collected from those who broadcast music, Sacem distributes them to authors, composers and publishers.
Concerts, radio, television, streaming, shops… the system adapts to each method of distribution to remunerate creators in a way that closely reflects the actual use of their works.

The contact details of publishers are public and can be found by consulting the Catalogue of Works.
For works that do not have publishers, do consider checking the creators’ social media accounts; it is often possible to leave them a message.
